Hi guys, welcome to my new review!                                                                                                         Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom was produced by Denzel Washington and the film stars Viola Davis and Chadwick Boseman as the protagonists. The movie was nominated for five Academy Award and won two Oscars for Makeup and Hairstyling and for Costume Design. Chadwick Boseman won a Golden Globe for Best Actor.

The Plot:

The whole movie is focused on a recording session in Chicago where Ma Rainey (Viola Davis), a famous blues singer, and her band rehearse multiple times the song “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”. Chadwick Boseman plays Levee Green, a trumpeter.

Personal opinion:

The acting in this movie is amazing, both Viola Davis and Chadwick Boseman gave two fantastic performances. Chadwick’s God Scene gave me chills, it was really great and he should have got more recognition for this performance. The costume design was actually really good. You should watch this movie if you didn’t for the acting and for the message given at the end.
